What Color are You?

Somewhere between the paint aisle and a psychology textbook, someone decided that people come in colors. Not skin tone. Not the shirt they wore to the office party. An actual, fundamental color, humming away underneath everything they say and do.

This is the theory. Reds run hot. Blues keep their feelings in a labeled container in the fridge. Yellows walk into a room and immediately start rearranging the furniture. It sounds like nonsense until you meet three people in a row and can guess all their colors before they finish saying hello.

The quiz asks about the things that actually matter. How a person feels about paying taxes, for one. What they do when the light turns green and the car ahead just sits there in a private moment of reflection. Whether they'd survive being suddenly naked in public, and — more revealing — how they'd handle the survival. These are the situations where the mask slips.

There are no wrong answers, though some answers are funnier than others. A person who spends their birthday reorganizing the pantry is not a broken person. They are simply a particular color, and the sooner they accept it, the better their life becomes.

The whole thing takes a few minutes. No essays, no math, no aptitude required beyond a working knowledge of one's own petty habits. Answer honestly. Nobody is grading, and the color doesn't care whether the answers are flattering.

Fair warning: the results have a way of landing a little too close. The kind of person who insists they're a calm, cool blue often turns out to be a red wearing a very convincing sweater. The color knows. It always knew.
