The Coach

You turn people into their best selves. Annoyingly effective.

The Coach

Congratulations — you've watched enough TED Talks that you actually retained something useful. The Coach is that manager who genuinely remembers their team members' career goals and somehow makes a one-on-one feel less like a performance review and more like a conversation a person actually wants to have. Suspicious, frankly.

You're less concerned with being the smartest one in the room and more interested in making sure everyone else gets their moment. Noble! Also a little annoying for the people who were hoping you'd just tell them what to do. Your team grows, your retention numbers look great, and you collect loyalty the way other managers collect complaints.

The blind spot? You sometimes coach when people just need a decision. Not every moment requires a growth opportunity, Yoda.
